Before you have one
Until your first Receptionist exists, the page shows No AI Receptionists yet — “Create your first AI Receptionist and we’ll walk you through it.” — with a single New Receptionist button beneath it. That button is the only one on the page while the list is empty.Create a new AI Receptionist
Once you have a Receptionist, New Receptionist moves to the top right of the page, beside the heading. On a phone it’s a round button showing only a plus sign. Either way it opens the New Receptionist dialog, which offers the two ways to build one — Build with AI (recommended) and Start from a template:- Build with AI creates the Receptionist straight away and opens its editor on the Train your AI Receptionist section, where you describe what it should handle in your own words.
- Start from a template shows a gallery of ready-made Receptionists matched to your sector; pick one, preview what it does, and Use this template.
Find the Receptionist you want
Above the list sit two pill-shaped menus:- The first filters by status — All statuses, Live, Paused or Needs a number. If nothing matches, the list says “No AI Receptionists match this filter.”
- The second sorts the list — Last edited (the default, newest change first) or Name.
What each row shows
Each row leads with the Receptionist’s description — the name it goes by in your list, set as the Receptionist description in Personality & voice. Under it are the name it introduces itself with to callers (left out when it’s the same as the description) and the first business number it answers on, with “+1 more” and so on when it has several. To the right of that are two chips:- The version callers hear — V1, V2 and so on. It’s green while that version is actually answering; hover over it and it says so, or says the version is published but not answering calls. Drafts, publishing and versions explains versions.
- The status — Live, Needs a number or Paused. Receptionist states explains each one.
Open, pause, resume or remove
Select anywhere on a row to open that Receptionist’s editor. It opens on the Train your AI Receptionist section, with its other sections — personality and voice, journeys, knowledge, business numbers and the rest — listed down the left. The controls at the end of each row work without opening the editor:- The pause button stops the Receptionist answering calls and chats. You’re asked to confirm with Pause Receptionist, and the row’s status changes to Paused. On a paused row the same control is a play button: select it and your Receptionist is answering again, with no confirmation needed. See Pause and resume.
- The ⋮ menu holds Remove, which takes the Receptionist out of your workspace for good. See Remove an AI Receptionist for what removing does and doesn’t take with it.
Only workspace admins can remove a Receptionist, so the ⋮ menu appears on their rows alone. Members with the User role see the pause control but no ⋮ at all. Everything else on this page — creating, filtering, pausing and resuming, opening a Receptionist — is open to every member. See Members and roles.
