If your business has a website, have the address handy — Moneypenny AI can read it and fill in most of your profile for you.If we set your account up for you, you won’t see this wizard. You’ll get an email inviting you in; sign in from that and your first AI Receptionist is already waiting on your AI Receptionists page, built from the same questions below. Check the business profile it was built from on Business details, under Your business — every Receptionist reads it at the start of each call — then try a test conversation and carry on building with AI.
Set up your account and AI Receptionist

Tell us about you
The first screen — “Let’s build your AI Receptionist” — asks for your first name, your last name and your mobile number, so we can reach you about your account. Then it asks: do you have a website?
- Yes — enter your website address and it’s read for you in the next step.
- No, not yet — you’ll answer a few short questions about your business instead.

Let Moneypenny AI learn your business
If you gave a website address, Moneypenny AI reads your site and builds your business profile: you’ll see it checking the address, reading your pages, finding what you offer, checking your opening hours and building your profile. It doesn’t matter how your site is built — a page that arrives empty is opened again the way a visitor would see it, so a site that draws itself in the browser is read too. That second look takes longer than an ordinary read, so a site like that spends a while on Reading your pages; if the whole thing drags, you’re offered Keep waiting, Check website address or Continue without a website.If your site can’t be read, the screen says why: the address couldn’t be reached, nothing useful was found, or your site’s own security turned us away — “Your website’s security blocked us from reading it.” That last one is worth passing to whoever looks after your site, because it’s their protection refusing us rather than anything wrong with the page. Either way you’re offered Try again, Check website address or Continue without a website, and nothing you’ve entered is lost.If you don’t have a website, you answer three short screens: your business name and a description of your business and what you offer, what people usually call you about (optional), and when you’re open — with quick presets, day-by-day hours if you need them, and your Country and Time zone. The time zone list only offers the chosen country’s zones, so change the country first if it’s wrong.

Review what we learned
The wizard shows you the profile it built — what your business is about, what you offer, your opening hours and contact details — and tells you where it came from (for a website, how many pages it read and how many facts it found). If you don’t have a website and we find a public business listing under your business name, a box above your profile asks Is this you? — because a name alone can match a different business, nothing from the listing is added until you say so. Select Yes, that’s us to add its address, phone number and opening hours to anything you haven’t filled in (it never replaces what you typed), or No, that’s not us to leave your profile as it is; if you skip the question, those details stay empty. Everything is editable here: fix anything that’s wrong, add anything that’s missing, then confirm. Check the country and time zone in particular: they start on the country of the site you signed up on — United Kingdom on our UK site, United States on our US site — rather than being read from your website, so change them if your business is somewhere else, and pick the time zone your opening hours are in. This profile is what every AI Receptionist you create knows about your business — each one reads it at the start of every call, and you can change it any time on Business details, under Your business.

Choose how to build your AI Receptionist
Two paths:
- Build with AI (recommended) — tell us in your own words how to handle your calls: your new Receptionist asks a few smart questions and sets itself up as you chat. It already knows your business from the profile you just confirmed.
- Start from a template — pick from a gallery of ready-made set-ups filtered to your sector, preview one, and start from there.

Meet your AI Receptionist
Either path creates your Receptionist and drops you into its editor on the Train your AI Receptionist section, with the Checklist beside the chat suggesting what to do next. Try a test conversation is on it — its Start a test button opens the test drawer, where you can try your Receptionist in chat or on a voice call. From there you can carry on building with AI and shape its personality and voice.
Your new AI Receptionist is created as version 1, so the voice test works straight away. Everything you change from here saves to a draft, and the test drawer — in chat or on a browser call — can try that draft. Publish when you want callers to hear your changes, and give it a business number when it’s ready for real callers.
