# Test your agent

> Chat with your agent, or call it live in the browser, before any customer hears your changes.

Open your agent from the Agents list and go to the **Test** tab. There are two ways to talk to your agent — a **Chat** conversation and a live **Voice call** in the browser — and the toggle at the top of the card switches between them.

<Note>
  Chat tries your unpublished changes. Voice calls always use the published version — [publish](/building/publishing) to hear your changes.
</Note>

## Chat with your agent

The conversation opens with your agent's greeting, and the chip above it tells you which version you're talking to: **Your draft** while you have unpublished changes, **Published** otherwise. Type a message and press Enter, exactly as a web-chat visitor would.

While you're testing:

* The refresh button starts a **new conversation** from the greeting, so you can try a different opening.
* The red disconnect button **ends the session** — useful when you want a clean record of one complete conversation.

When a conversation ends — because you disconnected, or because your agent wrapped it up itself — it's saved, and a **view the session details** link takes you to the full transcript and any captured details. Your test conversations sit alongside real ones on the [Sessions](/monitoring/sessions) page.

## Call your agent

Switch the toggle to **Voice call** and click **Start voice call**. Your browser may ask to use your microphone the first time. Then just talk — you hear your agent exactly as callers will, voice, greeting and all, and the call stays connected even if you move around the app.

Click **Disconnect** to hang up. Everything from the call — the transcript, captured details and summary — is saved with the session, and a **View the session details** button takes you straight there.

## Test while you build

You don't have to come to the Test tab to test. The [Build tab](/building/build-with-ai)'s side panel offers the same chat and voice call testing right next to the build conversation, so you can try each change the moment you make it.

A paused agent can't be tested — resume it from the Agents list first (see [Drafts, publishing and versions](/building/publishing)).
